Hot Dog Buns, Rolls and Breads

The bun is structural equipment. It should support the filling, bite cleanly and contribute flavor without overwhelming the sausage.

Length, width and hinge

The sausage should fill most of the bun length without making the first and last bites all meat. A strong hinge prevents toppings from escaping.

Moisture management

Use cheese or mustard as a barrier, drain sauerkraut and spoon chili narrowly. Toasting helps, but over-toasting makes a bun crack.
